Before you is a vintage bromide print by Man Ray, dated 1923‑24. The portrait shows Henry Havelock Ellis, the physician and psychologist born in 1859, standing tall in baggy tweed. Man Ray captured his likeness with a fine black‑white contrast that brings out his eyes and sharp cheekbones. The print is only about eleven inches tall – a small but detailed image from the early twenties. It entered the primary collection when it was purchased in 1995.
